A conversation with Lucy Skaer, K Patrick, and Anthony Elms

A new artist’s book featuring new images of Skaer’s previously exhibited sculptures, alongside the artist’s own photography and essays by K Patrick and Ingrid Schaffner, was recently published by Book Works, London. Peter Freeman, Inc. will host a conversation with Lucy Skaer, K Patrick, and independent curator Anthony Elms at the gallery on Saturday, 1 November, from 3 to 5 p.m.  Limited advanced copies will be available for purchase at the gallery. RSVP encouraged (rsvp@peterfreemaninc.com)

Lucy Skaer lives on the Isle of Lewis. She is an artist who works with sculpture, film, print, and drawing. Her work slows ideas down to abstractions and makes them concrete. She is interested in who makes history, what the grammar of sameness and difference is, and how ideas unfold in space.

K Patrick is the author of Mrs S and Three Births. They are based in Scotland.

Anthony Elms organizes exhibitions and writes. He recently organized Rodney McMillian: Neighbors for the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, opening in October 2025. An essay on artist Oliver Ressler, “Ellipsesverse,” posts online this fall for Ressler’s exhibition Scenes from the Invention of Democracy at the Museum Tinguely. His essay “Begin to begin to begin to begin to begin” is forthcoming in Ecstatic Aperture: Perspectives on the Life and Work of Terry Riley from Auryfa / Shelter Press.
