Artist and filmmaker Fiona Tan talks to Marcella Lista, Chief Curator of New Media at Centre Pompidou, Paris. Centre Pompidou recently acquired Fiona Tan's Ascent (2016) for their collection. Ascent will be displayed at Centre Pompidou early next year.
Tan and Lista will discuss Ascent in relation to works in the Mountains and Molehills exhibition. They will discuss Tan's use of still and moving images but also the notion of narrative in relation to the idea of alienation. During the talk, fragments and stills of Tans works such as Tuareg (1999) and Elsewhere (2018) will be shown. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. The conversation will be held in English.
